Happy Springtime!

Finally I think most of us can admit that the season is finally changing.  I uncovered my garden last month and found all my herbs and plant intact, which was so pleasing!
The mornings are getting lighter and I'm really enjoying taking evening strolls around the pond opposite my house.

This month, I wanted to share a poignant story with you from one of my clients, so I will hand over to her for this months update.

"Its been 4 months since I did a days work, its been 4 months since I earned a wage.  Its been a hard 4 months of searching for motivation to get out of bed each day, but here I am at 8am, I have had my breakfast, had a shower, a cup of tea and I am dressed (don't get me wrong I am not like this everyday). Facebook and Twitter and watching old episodes of Bondi rescue on Youtube used to be all I used the internet for and now my laptop has a new lease of life.

It is (with my help) going to get me a job, I am going to say that again - it IS with my help going to get me a job.

I like hearing myself say that.  I am not work shy and I can string a sentence together.  I have applied for well over 300 jobs and from all applications I have had 7 interviews, no job offers!

Often, people don't understand how much getting rejected drags you down  The feeling you get when they send a letter (or a generic e-mail that says (every time the same thing) 'we are sorry you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.

I have had days when I have stayed in bed, I have had days when I have not opened the curtains, not eaten anything unless it has a greater calorific value than 10killos of raw cane sugar, BUT, and this is the important part -  you HAVE to get up, you HAVE to open the curtains and goodness me you really HAVE to eat fruit! Why? Because I think to myself every single day - I AM GOING TO GET OFFERED A JOB  and what is going to happen if I am not ready?

At the end of the day I know I will be okay, I know I'm doing what I need to do to remain (fairly) sane.

Through coaching,  I realised that I needed to gain some focus on what sort of role I wanted rather than just applying for all sorts of jobs.  I have regained my confidence and motivation, and most importantly, felt that I am actually progressing.  I know I wouldn't be in as positive a mindset if I was acting alone. Last week, I was offered a job - my dream job in fact. and I know that I probably wouldn't have landed it if I was in the mindset I was a couple of months back.  There is no doubt - Coaching saved my life!"

Note from Amie

The reason I wanted to share this with you is twofold.

Firstly, I think its really relevant to some of the experiences that some of you, or people you know are going through. Secondly, I wanted to celebrate a bit of success.  This is something we typically don't do very well!

Although quick to identify where we are going wrong, we forget or choose not to congratulate ourselves when things go well.

When was the last time you gave yourself a pat on the back for something? What about celebrating others success?

Over the next few weeks, take some time out to celebrate!
