- Whats new for 2010
Review of 2009 At the end of December, I reviewed what I'd achieved against my goals for 2009. It was a great exercise to do as it really helped me to recognise the amount of activity I'd done and what I had got from it. Against my goals, I achieved 95% in terms of committing to follow through or take action. I had also done a lot of extra bits and pieces which weren't in my original plan, so I'm feeling very proud. Some of the key elements I worked on were: - Launching a Newsletter
- Starting a Blog
- Using Social Networking more effectively
- Updating and reformatting my Website
- Incorporating a variety of session options including Packages
- Getting to do more coaching in a variety of environments and challenging my own style and techniques
I asked many of you for feedback and I really appreciate the time you put in to give me such quality feedback. As a result of this, you can click on the links below to find out more and if you haven't already, visit my Blog or Website to recieve my free E-Course. I also hired a new coach in the last quarter of 2009 and he has really helped me to uncover my energy and enthusiasm again! New Year Resolutions?
Every year, a fair majority create 'New Year Resolutions', which they strive to achieve. These can be anything such as joining a gym, quitting smoking or even deciding you need a new career. If you truly want to be successful in sticking to these resolutions, you need to have the right attitude and mindset.
Start from within You need to have full desire and passion over the things that you want to achieve. This way, you will constantly store the thoughts and ideas in your mind that will lead to your success. If your desire is weak, the results and the paths to success will also be weak or delayed. The primary step is to create dreams. You may want to take a pen and paper and list down the items that you want to do.
Visualise yourself being successful in your objectives. The attitude of your mind is highly important to subconsciously control your actions towards the achievement of your goals and dreams. In addition to this, some people find it useful to keep pictures of things to help you see them in your mind. Try surfing the internet and look for the images that will put you on the right track, or browse through your photo albums.
Create Your List Next, you need to start to formulate an action plan (or list of activities). It is vital that you take actions that will always help you work towards your overall goal. For example, if your goal is to get rich, you have to set steps such as saving money, investing, working extra hours, building connections, etc.
I always recommended that you make your goal and list more specific, such as writing down "To earn 1 million pounds", instead of just "Being rich." You should also be specific about the individual steps. For example, "Save 10 pounds everyday", instead of just "Save more". Creating a time line will help you stay on track.
Think of Benefits or Consequences Aside from writing down the list of your goals and actions, you will also want to include the benefits and consequences once you reach them. For example, you can put "Buy a sports car". These specific advantages or benefits will motivate you more. You can also include the consequences should you not reach your goal, like "Lose my house", "Disappoint my wife", etc.
The Right Attitude You need to have the right attitude that will help you stick to your goals. The most important are consistency, patience and discipline. Consistency describes the work you put in to achieve the results you've always desired. Patience talks about waiting for the right opportunity and persevering despite some disappointments. Discipline means giving up some immediate gratifications so you can get bigger and long lasting benefits in the end.
You can practice the right attitude by talking to very successful people and finding a partner who can motivate you during times of trouble. It is important that you check your list every now and then and make the necessary adjustments over time. Changes may occur but you have to stay with the goal, even if the plan is flexible and altered.
